JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - On Thursday, June 21, the City of Jonesboro encourages residents to dump the pump and instead jump on a JET.
In honor of National Dump the Pump Day, all JET bus travel will be free.
The city will join transit agencies across the nation in giving free rides to attract residents who don't normally take the bus, according to an email from Bill Campbell, the city's director of communications.
The goal is to get everyone on board and see how the service can fit into their lives.
"It's also a day of conservation—conserving fuel," JET Director Michael Black is quoted as saying, adding that ridership spiked during last year's free ride day. "We had close to 700 riders, and a typical Thursday would be 450 to 500."
