July 4th is just around the corner. According to AAA, more people than ever are planning to travel.

AAA forecasts a record 47 million people traveling this year, nearly two-and-a-half million more than last year.

With July 4th landing on a Wednesday, AAA expects the worst congestion on what they're calling "terrible Tuesday".

Jeanette Casselano says travel times are expected to double in major metro areas on July 3.

"Pack your patience because there's a lot of people that are going to be joining you if you're traveling by air or hitting the road," Casselano says.

Hotels and car rental prices are slightly higher than this time last year.

Airfares, however, are the lowest they've been in five years.
