GOSNELL, AR (KAIT) - When the power goes out in Gosnell this Thursday, residents will be able to keep their cool.

The Mississippi County Electric Cooperative will turn off power to customers starting at 8 a.m. Thursday, June 28, to upgrade equipment at its substation.

The outage is expected to last approximately 6 hours.

With temperatures that day expected to peak in the 90s, the city of Gosnell announced on social media Tuesday it would open a cooling center.

The center will be open from 8 a.m. until the power is restored.

All residents, especially the elderly and those on oxygen, looking to keep cool should go to the Community Center, 307 S. Airbase Highway.

Water will also be provided.
