POPLAR BLUFF, MO (KAIT) -

Poplar Bluff police are asking the public’s help in finding a “persistent” sex offender.

Michael Heath Owen, 37, reportedly moved from his registered address in the 500-block of Oak Street without notifying the Butler County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s Sex Offender Registry, Owen was convicted in 2011 of raping a 16-year-old Fair Grove, MO girl. He was released from prison last October after serving eight years behind bars.

Online court records note that Owen is a “prior and persistent offender.”

Owen is 5’11” and weighs 210 pounds, he has numerous tattoos on his chest, arms, and legs. His last known address was the 500-block of Oak Street in Poplar Bluff. According to MSHP, he owns several vehicles but drives a gold 2007 Chevy Uplander crossover with Missouri license plate DH9X2Y.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts should contact local law enforcement or call PBPD Captain David Sutton at 573-686-8649 or email dsutton@pbpolice.org.
