GOSNELL, AR (KAIT) - The biological father of a three-year-old child found beaten in Gosnell spoke out Monday regarding the horror he saw when he picked up his daughter.
Clinton Rushing Jr., the father of the girl, spoke to CNN affiliate WREG, saying he received a tip through Facebook that his daughter was abused.
He then traveled from his home in Missouri to Gosnell to pick up his daughter but was told by her mother, Sarah Keeling, to meet at a gas station and not at the home.
"It was dark when we got there and their mother was, the whole time, covering them up," Rushing Jr. said.
"Honestly, I'm surprised she's alive, to be real," Rushing Jr. added. "Like, I don't see how my baby could pull through that. It was horrific. That's going to haunt her every day and I'm going to have to work with her every day just to prove to her that not everybody's like that."
According to Rushing Jr., the mother never explained how his daughter wound up in her condition.
His two-year-old son also suffered injuries to his eyes and lips.
Police arrested both Keeling and her boyfriend, Anthony Mosely, in the case.
Keeling's bond was set at $100,000 while Mosely's was set at $150,000.
A plea and arraignment hearing has reportedly been scheduled for July 31.
