JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A judge issued a bench warrant Monday for a Level 3 sex offender who once again failed to report his home address.
On June 18, 67-year-old Gary Leon Webster was released from the Craighead County Detention Center. He had 10 days, according to Arkansas law, to update his registration information with Jonesboro police.
But Natasha Kaja, sex offender registration specialist for the police department, says he has failed to do so.
Webster, who has been convicted twice for sexual abuse, has a lifetime registration requirement.
At the time of his recent release, he was awaiting trial for failing to comply in April of this year. At that time he was also accused of living too close to a daycare.
Webster's last registered address was the Econo Lodge, 2406 Phillips Dr. But, according to Kaja, the manager said he had not rented a room from them since April.
It is unknown where he is living now, Kaja said.
On Monday, July 2, Detective Bill Brown submitted an affidavit to Craighead County District Judge Tommy Fowler who found probable cause to charge Webster with failing to register-failing to comply with reporting requirements and issued a warrant for his arrest.
Anyone with information on Webster's whereabouts should call Crimestoppers at 935-STOP (7867) or local law enforcement.
