STEELE, MO (KAIT) - A Missouri man was arrested after police say he set fire to a vehicle and beat a woman with a baseball bat.
Steele Police Chief Billy Joe Stanfield said in a news release that his officers and Pemiscot County sheriff's deputies responded to a Brooks St. home on Tuesday. The call was for a vehicle fire and someone being hit with a bat.
When authorities arrived, they found a vehicle "fully engulfed in flames" and the fire had spread to the front of the house.
A Steele police officer safely got one person out of the home. The Steele Fire Department put out the fire.
Stanfield said 60-year-old Elbert Ray Parsons of Steele was arrested.
He was charged with arson, assault, and armed criminal action.
Parsons' cash-only bond was set at $25,000.
The Missouri State Fire Marshal was contacted to assist in the investigation.
