Security camera catches suspect in theft case, authorities say

Theft Arrest

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - A homeowner captures a theft suspect on camera and authorities say the camera helped to make the arrest.

Captain Justin Rolland with the Craighead County Sheriff's Department said a number of thefts in north Jonesboro have been solved thanks to the security surveillance of a local homeowner.

"Investigators were able to identify the suspect through a video provided to us by a homeowner," Rolland said. "A personal security camera captured the individual at the residence and in the act. Investigators also interviewed a witness who identified the suspect's vehicle."

Collin Blake Miller was arrested and taken into custody.

Rolland said they managed to recover some of the stolen merchandise.

"Investigators conducted a search of a residence," Rolland said. "They were able to recover some property. Including a firearm that was stolen from one of the vehicles. These were all vehicle break-ins. They're still working today to recover more of the stolen property."

Miller now faces six counts of breaking and entering, theft charges, felony possession of a firearm and drug charges.

Rolland said this investigation is still ongoing.

"Anytime we work a case like this," Rolland said. "It takes some time to close it. We anticipate through interviews with the suspect, as well as other evidence is gathered, there's always the potential of someone else being involved. So, we'll leave the case open until we determine no one else is involved."
