Fundraiser for the Committee of 100

Mountain View, AR -- Mountain view was the place to be on Saturday for anyone in the market for jewelry.  Hundreds attended the ''Head for the Hills'' jewelry sale and auction that benefits the Committee of 100.  The committee is a group of women from all over Arkansas that support the Ozark Folk Center state park in Mountain View.

The proceeds from Saturday's fundraiser will go to support teaching the ''old way of doing things'' as demonstrated at the Folk Center, "Our most recent project...is the musical roots program.", said Committee of 100 member Janice Sutton, "We're buying instruments and we're paying for instruction for children to learn traditional music."

Most of the items that were sold at the auction were donated by committee members. One Committee member said, "Our members have been very generous going into their jewelry boxes asking their friends to contribute items that are special to them that they're not using now and would like to share with someone else." People came from all across Arkansas to pick up some sparkeling trinkets.
