Authorities search for shooting suspect

MARIANNA, AR (KAIT) - Authorities are asking the help of the public in finding a suspect in connection with a shooting earlier this month in Lee County that left one person injured.

According to Sgt. Alvin Honeycutt of the Marianna Police Department, authorities responded to the shooting July 10 after getting a call. The shooting happened when the victim, who was on a bicycle, noticed that a car pulled up next to him.

The passenger, Demetrious McFadden, began shooting at the man with a .22-caliber handgun, hitting him several times, Honeycutt said.

The victim was taken to a Memphis hospital, where he was later treated and released.

Officers arrested Antwan Pearson and Raekwon Hunter in connection with the shooting, Honeycutt said, noting authorities want to catch McFadden.

"It has been told that he has family in the Little Rock area and may be there. McFadden has been involved in high-speed chases, incidents where attempts were made to pull guns on officers and several narcotic arrests," Honeycutt said.

Anyone with information on the whereabouts of McFadden, whose nickname is "Meechie", can call Marianna police at 870-295-2508.
