POCAHONTAS, AR (KAIT) - The Downtown Playhouse in Pocahontas is entertaining a packed house now that building renovations are complete.
The playhouse has been open for three years, but General Manager Kelly Grooms said the inside of the building has never matched the outside.
The interior of the building has intricate artwork with Broadway theming.
Recently, the outside of the playhouse got a much-needed facelift complete with a neon marquis and artwork of its own.
Those renovations were possible thanks to community donations the renovations.
"I think it's important for people to know that this is a community effort," he said. "The people who have donated the funds, the people who have volunteered the labor, the businesses that have gotten on board."
Grooms said the effort was also supported by businesses like Barnes Signs, who installed the new sign at the lowest possible cost.
The new look is bringing in visitors from outside the city and the summer show has continued to sell out each night.
