VIDEO: Chain reaction crash shuts down I-55

CRITTENDEN COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - A multi-vehicle crash early Tuesday morning shut down parts of Interstate 55 for more than 2 hours.

The Arkansas Department of Transportation reported the crash occurred between Marion and West Memphis at mile marker in Crittenden County.

In an early tweet, ArDOT stated the crash involved 2-3 tractor trailers.

The Marion Fire Department was among the first responders called to the scene.

In a post to its Facebook page, MFD said the crash occurred when a vehicle merged to the right, causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles.

Only one person, they said, suffered minor injuries.

The outside lane was shut down for 2.5 hours, according to ArDOT, as crews worked to clear debris scattered across the interstate.
