CAVE CITY, AR (KAIT) - A Region 8 mayor has been selected to serve on the executive committee of the Arkansas Municipal League, with officials from the group saying they are working to build upon the ideas of the state's youngest elected leaders.
According to a media release, Cave City Mayor Jonas Anderson accepted the appointment to the group's executive committee for the 2018-2019 session. North Little Rock Mayor Joe Smith, at the group's meeting earlier this year, announced a plan to look at younger leadership, especially with the state's cities and towns.
Anderson is one of two people under the age of 40 selected to the committee, the release noted.
Anderson said the appointment is a first for the town.
"The appointment is both an incredible honor and a unique opportunity for our community," Anderson said. "I look forward to learning from my colleagues on the committee and representing the wonderful people of Cave City."
