BLYTHEVILLE, AR (KAIT) - A resolution passed that unanimously now puts a Region 8 public library one step closer to its goal.
In a Blytheville City Council meeting Tuesday, the council passed a resolution allowing the city to deed the Blytheville Public Library building to the Mississippi County Library System.
This will allow the library system to use the building as collateral to apply for loans and certain grants.
It's all in an effort to fund the $290,000 that will replace the roof and H-VAC system.
"What we're seeing right now is this is one of the most expedient ways and a collaboration with both the citizens of the town and the library system and the city of Blytheville to try and make those things happen," Mayor James Sanders said.
Now the plan relies on the library system taking out a loan to afford the necessary repairs.
