Multi-vehicle crash on Highland Drive injures one, police say

JONESBORO, AR (KAIT) - Jonesboro police, fire, and emergency medical personnel went to a crash on East Highland involving several vehicles, including a semi-truck.

The crash happened in the 9400-block of East Highland, near the Butterball plant, according to Jonesboro E-911.

The driver of a Honda Civic told police that she felt like she was about to fall asleep and pulled over to the shoulder of the road. However, witnesses said the woman did a U-turn in the middle of Highland, causing a series of crashes, Jonesboro Police Cpl. David McDaniel said.

An 18-wheeler then hit the woman's car. From there, a person went to check on the conditions on the drivers when their vehicle was struck by another car attempting to go around the Civic, McDaniel said.

Also, two other vehicles stopped in the area but were struck by another vehicle, McDaniel said.

At least one person was injured in the crash involving a truck and as many as four other vehicles.
