CLEBURNE COUNTY, AR (KAIT) - An investigation into two people being bound, beaten and stabbed by several suspects earlier this month has led to the arrests of four people in Cleburne County, authorities there said Friday.
Sara Melvin and Billy Hillhouse, both of Wilburn, Shannon Wallingsford of Pangburn and Efren Torres of Heber Springs were arrested this week after an investigation by Cleburne County deputies.
According to a media release from Cleburne County Sheriff Chris Brown, deputies went to the McJester Road Church around 6:15 p.m. Aug. 18 after getting a report about a man and woman being beaten and robbed.
The man and woman were flown to a Little Rock hospital for treatment, Brown said. The investigation picked up steam earlier this week with the help of the U.S. Marshal's Service and deputies served a search warrant at one of the suspect's houses.
Melvin, Hillhouse, Wallingford and Torres were arrested on suspicion of two counts of aggravated robbery, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of introduction of a controlled substance into the body of another, two counts of terroristic threatening and an enhancement for engaging in a violent group activity.
Torres also faces a charge of an additional enhancement for being a habitual offender.
