JONESBORO -- The third annual K8 8K got off with a bang at Craighead Forest Park.
Over 400 people were on hand for the 8 kilometer race, more than double the number of participants from last year. But it's the cause behind the race that everybody's talking about, "This is an important cause to us and this season we've been dedicating our pre-season to breast cancer awareness, and so we just came out here to have fun", Said Lady Indian Basketball player Amber Abraham.  Runners and walkers alike took part in today's race and all the proceeds will go to benefit the American Cancer Society.

One of the great things about the K8 8K, is that 100 percent of the registration fees from the race will go right back into Region 8.  KAIT General Manager Ted Fortenberry said, "A lot of events that you participate in the money goes to the national association this money goes directly into Region 8 to help people fighting cancer in our own community.''

With over 400 people participating at fifteen dollars a person, the K8 8K will provide a nice donation for the organization to do their work.
