Ivory-Billed Woodpecker...Suitable for Framing

JONESBORO, AR -- The Ivory-Billed Woodpecker made headlines across the globe when it was rediscovered in Arkansas last year. And now finally, fans are able to take home the rare bird...suitable for framing.

It's estimated that there are more than 70 million birdwatchers in the United States, many who will travel to Arkansas for a glimpse of the elusive ivory-billed woodpecker. And of course, they'll need a few souvenirs.

Stamps, posters, t-shirts and pins are available at Grisham’s Art in Jonesboro and they all feature the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker.

“It's an exciting thing for our little corner of Arkansas,” said Larry Grisham, Wildlife Art Director for the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission.

The bird, rediscovered last year, has provoked an international response.

“We get phone calls from really all over the world. It’s funny, there seems to be more interest universally then there is right here in our own back yard,” said Grisham.

To own your own ivory-billed woodpecker, be prepared to pay. The most popular item is the $15 dollar stamp, and prints range from $20 to $300 and feature the search team and a governor's series.

“I think we are having more interest in the search team edition then anything else. Because those four guys will have signed those prints,” said Grisham.

To get your very own print or stamps of the Ivory-Billed Woodpecker, you can come to Grisham's Art in Jonesboro or contact them at 1-800-232-2409.

Proceeds from the sales of the stamps will go to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology, the Nature Conservancy and the Arkansas Game and Fish Foundation.
