Trumann, Arkansas -- Brandi Hodges Reports

Wild Duck Festival Held in Trumann

Saturday October 8, 2005  -- Posted at 7:41 p.m. CDT

JONESBORO -- The Wild Duck Festival held Saturday in Trumann offers something for the whole family. It kicked off today with the start of the chili cookoff followed by a parade down the center of town.  The parade ended at the main attraction where food venders and craft booths lined the way.

It's from duck hunting that the Wild Duck Festival got it's name.  Pam Daniel with the Trumann Chamber of Commerce said, "When it started out 23 years ago that was the name. The duck theme came because this is duck country.''

So why do so many participate in this festival? ''This is a good thing, and everybody needs to come out and support our town in this effort. It's our annual festival and we'd like to see everone come out.", said Lois Day, a member of the Rotary Club.
