JONESBORO, AR - A $1 million federal grant will be used to address the mental health needs of children in Craighead and Mississippi counties in Region 8, as well as those in Lee and Phillips counties.
The grant will fund a project called ACTION for Kids and state officials hope the program will eventually go statewide.
The state's Division of Behavioral Health Services has contracted with two Region 8 agencies in Jonesboro and Forrest City to administer the project. The groups will set up a comprehensive system of care, involving counseling and child welfare work, for children in the four counties.
