No Injuries After Teen Fires Shotgun in Upper SeMo School

FARMINGTON, MO - No one was hurt today when a 17-year-old fired a shotgun into a bathroom ceiling at Farmington High School in Saint Francois County.

Farmington police have the teen in custody and the weapon has been recovered.

School superintendent W.L. Sanders says a school administrator heard the shot and secured the bathroom, after seeing the student with the weapon.  He says staffers cleared the halls while another employee stood by the bathroom door and tried to calm the alleged shooter down.

After the teen was in custody, students were taken across the street to a center where parents could pick up their children if they wished.  Other students were allowed to remain in class and complete the day, if they chose.
