Deck the Halls Contest Rules

Contest Rules

One entry per person, per of the home, per Living Spaces contest. (i.e., a person can only enter one time for 'Deck the Halls', but they can enter one time for 'Deck the Halls' as well and any other contest)

All entrants must be at least 18 years of age. The winning entry may be asked to provide proof of age to determine eligibility.

Participants in Living Spaces 'Deck the Halls' must own the home to be remodeled, or have their landlord's permission to participate if they occupy a rental property. All entries must be submitted by the legal homeowner or tenant—no third party entries. Securing landlord approval for contest entry is the sole reponsibility of the tenant in the case of rental properties.

Employees of KAIT, Raycom Media, sponsors, and their families are not eligible to win.

All entrants must reside in KAIT's viewing area or viewing KAIT through their local cable TV system.

Entries will only be accepted online via a form on the Deck the Halls page on Please check your spelling and grammar on the reasons you submit, as these are a part of the judging criteria.

Entry deadline for entry in 'Deck the Halls': October 31st

All entries received will be judged on the basis of originality execution and presentation according to the theme of the room being decorated, recognizing the degree to which the sponsors and their products can solve your room's problems. Eight (8) semi-finalists will be selected by a panel of judges made up of representatives of sponsor companies. KAIT viewing audience will be asked to vote on their favorite, most deserving semi-finalist. Winning contestant will be chosen based on a formula combining results from both online voting and contest judges, with contest judges having final decision on declaring the winner.

By entering the contest, you release all rights for KAIT-TV and its sponsors to use your name and likeness for promotional purposes without pay.

The winner of the remodel must allow KAIT-TV and its sponsor's exclusive access to document the prize redemptions for broadcast and promotional purposes, including availability for live news segments possibly airing as early as 5 AM and as late as 10 PM.

The winner of the makeover is responsible for purchasing or otherwise procuring any necessary building permits. In addition, the winner is responsible for monitoring compliance with any city ordinances or zoning regulations during the course of the makeover project conducted on his/her property.

Due to the value of the prize, the winner will be contacted by Sponsors for taxation purposes.

The winner of the contest is welcome to add their input into the remodel, however all renovations are strictly up to the designer. By entering the contest, the participant releases all rights to the design of the area to be remodeled. No additions outside of the allocated budget are permitted.

KAIT-TV and sponsors are not responsible for lost, late, forged, mass-reproduced or mass-transmitted, misdirected, mutilated, incomplete or illegible entries and such entries are void; any telephone, electronic, hardware, or software program, network, Internet, or computer malfunctions, failures, or difficulties, errors or failures in transmission or reception; and any condition caused by events beyond the control of KAIT-TV, which may cause the contest to be dissrupted or corrupted.

KAIT, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any person tampering with the entry process, the operation of the website, or who is otherwise in violation of the rules. It further reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify any game not capable of completion as planned, including infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering, unauthorized intervention, or technical failures of any sort.

Rules may be changed by KAIT-TV at any time throughout the contest.
