Huckabee Appoints Jonesboro Attorney to Judicial Position

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Governor Mike Huckabee has appointed Jonesboro attorney Cindy Thyer as circuit judge in the 2nd Judicial District, which is comprised of Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi and Poinsett counties.

She is replacing Judge David Goodson, who is retiring as circuit judge on October 31.  Thyer's appointment becomes effective on November 1.

Thyer has practiced law in Jonesboro since 1996, and is a partner in the Halsey & Thyer law firm.  She served as Craighead County's deputy prosecuting attorney from 1996 to 1998.

She received her law degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville in 1995, and her bachelor's degree from UALR in 1992.

Thyer is married to state Representative Chris Thyer (D), also a Jonesboro attorney.
