Farm Bureau Wants Assurance Private Land Won't be Taken for Business

LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas Farm Bureau wants the Legislature to write into law a guarantee that private property won't be taken by the government to propel economic development.

The U.S. Supreme Court recently ruled that private land in some cases could be condemned so it can be used to build a local economy.

Stanley Hill of the Farm Bureau says an Arkansas law that is believed to ban the practice is too vague and needs to be strengthened.  The Farm Bureau wants legislators to pass a law that clearly sustains the rights of private landowners.
