Positive Athletic Spending

LITTLE ROCK--Overall athletic spending at Arkansas-supported universities increased by five point three million dollars for fiscal year 2005. But state records show the
money earned by college sports more than covered the expense.

Total athletics spending for state-supported schools topped out at 77 point six (m) million dollars or about three point nine percent of the higher education budget.

Most of that five point three million dollar increase came through the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville. That campus saw expense and revenue increases of three point four (m) million
