JONESBORO, AR -- For those looking to jump start their Christmas shopping the convocation center at Arkansas State University was the place to be.  The 18th annual ‘Lit’l Bit of Christmas’ arts and crafts show is held each year to benefit athletic scholarships at A.S.U.

Many of those who attended the shopping extravaganza came as a family, “We needed a day to get out as mother and daughter and granddaughters and we're shopping for Christmas presents,” said Terry Johnson.  “Well we always come to find a certain ornament for our tree and of course we always come to find these candles that are so beautiful,” said Beverly McCollum.

But what makes these shoppers come back every year?  “The large assortment and variety and sometimes we see them at other shows and then we can come shop some more at this one,” said Johnson.

There were over one hundred vendors taking part in the arts and crafts show.  And there are new vendors that join in every year.  And some of those new vendors come from right here in region eight.  Richard Ressler makes soy candles out of a shop in Brookland and decided to make this show his first, “For the smaller business person like myself it's a great place to showcase our products and let people know about them and know we're out there.”

Lane McKinley is an artist in Jonesboro, “I do a lot of canvas painting a lot of banners. I paint furniture for children and I also paint murals in children’s rooms.”

All of the proceeds from the 'Lit'l Bit of Christmas' arts and craft show will go to benefit athletic scholarships at A.S.U.
