LITTLE ROCK, AR - The Arkansas unemployment rate for October was 4.9 percent, two-tenths of a percentage point lower than in September. That's according to the state Department of Workforce Services.
The September figure was adjusted from an initial 5.7 percent to 5.1 percent. The rate for September was initially inflated because of regional factors that affect how the number is determined. Joblessness that followed Gulf Coast hurricanes affected the Arkansas numbers.
The national unemployment rate decline one-tenth of a percentage point to 5.0 percent for October.
