November 18, 2005 -- Posted at 3:24 p.m. CST

FORT MADISON, Iowa (AP) _ Public safety officials say a second inmate who escaped from an Iowa prison was captured today in southern Missouri.

Iowa prison officials say 27-year-old Robert Joseph Legendre was captured in Steele, near Caruthersville. Legendre's capture comes a day after another inmate, 34-year-old Martin Moon, was caught near Chester, Illinois.

The men scaled a wall at the Iowa State Penitentiary in Fort Madison on Monday. Moon was returned to Iowa and is back at the prison today.

Few details of Legendre's capture were immediately available.

Legendre was convicted in Nevada in the kidnapping and attempted murder of a Las Vegas cabbie. Moon was convicted of murder in 2000 for shooting his roommate during a drug deal in 1990.
