LITTLE ROCK, AR - A safety advocacy group says 39.2 percent of the traffic accident deaths in Arkansas last year were alcohol-related.

Arkansas finished 23rd out of the fifty states and Puerto Rico on the End Needless Death on Our Roadways list of the deadliest states for impaired driving.  Rhode Island was first and Utah was last.

A news release from the group said the state was placed on a watchlist because the percentage of fatalities increased in the last year.  According to the group, nearly 17,000 motorists are killed nationwide in alcohol-related accidents each year.
