Searching for the Perfect Christmas Tree

November 30, 2005 - Posted at 6:00 a.m. CST

Goobertown, AR --  For many of us, decorating really gets us into the holiday spirit. The Christmas Tree is like the centerpiece for decorating in your home.

So this Christmas, we wanted everything to be perfect, so we went in search of the perfect Christmas Tree at Goobertown Tree Farm.

Bill Owen said there are a few things to keep in mind before picking out your tree.  First, look at the size of your tree. You don't need a tree that can't fit into your house. Next look at the trunk. Does it twist and turn, or does it lean to the side. Any trees like these are going to take some adjusting in the tree stand. Then decide what type of tree you want.

Bill told us, "Most people go for the original, but there are a few that have allergies, and we have a special kind of tree for that."

Bill and his helpers usually cut down the trees for you, just to be on the safe side, but if you insist, Bill won't disagree.

"There are some that it's a tradition for their whole family to go and cut the tree down, so we give them a saw, a handsaw, and they go cut it down every year."

Bill and his family started planting the trees back in 1991, and said they have been selling them for ten years. A Christmas tree takes about 4 years to fully develop, so it's good to buy them between 4 and 6 years old.

Bill owens and his family are ready to answer any questions you may have about a tree, and he's waiting with his saw to cut one down for you.
