LITTLE ROCK, AR - Representatives from the state's Democratic and Republican parties say they will work together to help fight hunger during a telethon.
The volunteers will work one-hour shifts during Friday's telethon, answering phones and taking pledges from those who donate to the food drive. The telethon will help the Arkansas Foodbank Network provide meals to Arkansas' families in need of food.
Republican Party of Arkansas chairman Gilbert Baker and Democratic Party of Arkansas chairman Jason Willett of Jonesboro both say it's important to work together during the holiday season.
According to the Foodbank, nearly 181,000 Arkansas children live in poverty and more than 64,000 elderly Arkansans live below the poverty line.
