City Council Votes to Condemn Region 8 Eyesores

December 6, 2005 – Posted at 9:15 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR -- The Jonesboro City Council considered a resolution Tuesday night to condemn buildings and property that don't comply with the city's ordinances, and it wasn't any surprise on how they voted.

“The inspection's report basically tells what all is wrong with it,” said code enforcement officer Mike Daffron.

It didn't take much to convince Mayor Doug Forman and the Jonesboro City Council that these properties needed to be condemned.

But there was no sign of 520 West Huntington owners Dorothy Durante and Geraldine Lammers or 705 West Huntington owner Norman Curtner at the meeting.

Jonesboro 's code enforcement division is part of the Planning and Inspection department...and while they consider Tuesday night's meeting a victory, their job is far from over.
