MEMPHIS, TN - Police in Memphis say a crane swinging steel beams into place at a bridge construction site over the Wolf River lost its load this morning and falling steel killed a worker on the ground.

Sergeant Vince Higgins says a second worker was injured when he jumped into the river to avoid being struck, but he was pulled from the water.

Higgins says part of the crane ended up in the river.

The victim's name hasn't yet been released.
