Friends of the Library Celebrate the Holidays

December 14, 2005 – Posted at 4:29 p.m. CST

JONESBORO, AR -- When you think of the library card catalogs, books and 'no talking' signs may come to mind. But even librarians know how to celebrate the holiday season.

It's the 10th year for the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library open house, and every year it gets bigger and better.

Food, music and fun...all at the library, and you never know who might be melting for a good book.

“We are defiantly not a shhh library. We're very community oriented and want everybody to feel perfectly comfortable,” said Margo Reiser, Chairman of the Friend of the Library.

The Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library opened its doors Wednesday to both strangers and regulars.

“It's for everybody,” said Reiser, “If you are new, we'll give you a tour, and if you are a regular, we'll show you all the things we've done since you were here last. It's just a thank you for the community.”

The Friends of the Library are always working on their membership drive. To find out more information or join, you can contact the Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library at 935-5133.
