Hurricane Refugees Face January 7 Deadline for Clearing Out of Hotels

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Hurricane refugees still living in hotels in Arkansas and other states have until January 7 to find other accomodations.  The Federal Emergency Management Agency will no longer pay hotel bills for refugees after the deadline.

Sister Joan Pytlik, who runs Catholic Charities in Little Rock, says FEMA should extend the deadline.  Pytlik estimates over 1,000 refugees are still in hotels in Arkansas alone.

Pytlik says her agency connects refugees with services they need.

FEMA officials say refugees won't be kicked out of hotels, despite the January 7 deadline.
