ARKANSAS -- The National Weather Service issued a red flag warning for 32 Arkansas counties on Monday, an indicator that quick winds, high temperatures and dry conditions could combine to cause a potentially explosive fire.
Arkansas Forestry Commission Jim Grant said the state has the potential for wildfires unless residents heed the burn bans issued by more than two-thirds of Arkansas counties; 54 in total.
But Grant said that the state is prepared to fight any fire, should Arkansas see any fires like those that are burning to west in the Oklahoma and Texas.
He said many of the state's firefighters have been placed on duty and anti-wildfire air tankers are ready to fly in case a fire flares in Arkansas.
