Thayer Man Finds Class Ring 38 Years After Loss

JANUARY 9, 2006 - Posted at 3:13 p.m. CST

FLIPPIN, AR - Low water levels in Lake Norfork brought a special benefit to a Region 8 man who lost his class ring while swimming as a youth in 1968.

Clint Peruchi found Lewis E. Childers' ring.

Peruchi found the ring while helping to relocate a boat which had to be moved because of the low water.  Peruchi says he spotted the ring in the dirt near the dock, an area that is normally 50 feet from shore and under water.

Childers says that Peruchi called him and that he knew the ring was his as soon as he heard the description.

Childers offered Peruchi a reward, but Peruchi turned it down.  Peruchi says he's just happy that the ring is back where it belongs.

Peruchi tracked Childers down through the initials of LEC on the Thayer, Missouri high school ring.
