Sharp County Man Cited after Children Found Shivering

JANUARY 11, 2006 - Posted at 8:06 a.m. CST

CAVE CITY, AR - A Cave City man allegedly left his two young children, barefoot and without coats, shivering in the cold while they waited alone for a daycare bus.

Nicklus Lee Ring, 25, was arrested Monday at his trailer home by Police Chief Vernon Gann, then released on a citation because Ring was caring for a third child at the time.  Ring was cited on two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor.

The daycare bus driver found the children, who had only short-sleeved shirts on.  An employee from the Beginning Day Care called police.

Ring said that he had been sleeping and that he thought his wife had gotten the children ready for daycare before she left that morning.
