Bono Chief Police Resigns

BONO--The police chief in the northeast Arkansas town of Bono has resigned after he was charged with first-degree sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl.

Investigators say 52-year-old former chief Rick Duhon lured the girl to his home a few days before Christmas. Bono Mayor L.M. Duncan confirmed Duhon's resignation.

The crime is a felony punishable by a maximum penalty of 30 years in prison and a $15,000 fine.

The mayor said Bono Patrolman Jim Matha would act as police chief until the city fills the position and that the Craighead County Sheriff has agreed to help the city if needed.
