LITTLE ROCK-Students across Arkansas who want to switch from one college or university to another often find themselves facing piles of paperwork as they try to sort which of their
classes will transfer and which don't.
But the Arkansas Department of Higher Education hopes that will change by this December, when state law mandates a new policy be in place to govern credit transfers statewide.
The department has started asking college and university faculty to join 19 different committees this month to begin drafting the changes this spring. A curriculum is to be established that outline
the minimum core courses that should transfer among all Arkansas public schools.
Officials say freshmen and sophomores will know exactly what courses will be accepted at the next school they attend.
