JANUARY 17, 2006 - Posted at 1:43 p.m. CST

PARAGOULD, AR - Judge Ray Spruell of Jonesboro this morning kicked off his campaign for Circuit Judge in the 2nd Judicial District of northeast Arkansas in front of the Greene County Courthouse in Paragould.

Spruell most recently has served as a District Judge in Craighead County, after being appointed by Governor Huckabee in 2002 to serve out the term of Pam Honeycutt.  "My experience as a sitting judge will allow me to hit the bench running, so to speak...without having to learn the ropes.

He is running for the seat being vacated by the retiring David Goodson of Paragould.  The 2nd Judicial District covers Clay, Craighead, Crittenden, Greene, Mississippi and Poinsett counties.
