JONESBORO, AR - The USDA is encouraging farmers in Craighead County to attend a Conservation Program Farmer Workshop Thursday evening in Jonesboro at the Huntington Community Building.  The meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.

The meeting will cover information of particular interest to row crop farmers, including incentive programs such as per acre rental payments, and 50 to 90 percent cost-share payments.  These programs would "retire marginal cropland and establish wildlife habitat for quail, turkey, deer and grassland songbirds."

The meeting is sponsored by the Arkansas Game & Fish Commission, the Craighead County Farm Service Agency and Natural Resources Conservation Service.
