JEFFERSON CITY, MO - More help is on the way for low-income Missourians struggling to pay high winter heating bills.
The Senate today gave final approval to a bill providing more than $6 million in state energy aid. The House passed the bill last week. And Governor Blunt plans to sign it into law later today.
The federal government already provides $38 million to help Missourians pay their heating bills. But community action agencies fear that money could run out because of high natural gas prices.
The state money will be used to help people if the federal dollars run short.
