Lincoln: Bill would Restrict Sexually Oriented Internet Sites

LITTLE ROCK, AR - Senator Blanche Lincoln says a bill she proposed in July would help keep children away from pornographic Web sites.

Lincoln spoke yesterday to a Senate committee on behalf of her bill.  It would require age-verification filters and would impose a 25 percent tax on transactions over adult sites.  Her bill has been referred to the Senate Finance Committee.

She said current technology makes it far too easy for children to see pornography that they wouldn't be allowed to buy in person.

Lincoln said the money raised by the tax would be used to combat sexual predators online.
