Financially-Troubled Region 8 School Suspends Superintendent

NEWARK, AR - Before Newark and Cord-Charlotte schools in Independence County consolidated last year, Newark was already experiencing financial difficulties, and as the newly-created Cedar Ridge district, school officials are still trying to find ways to save money.

Last night, the district's board of education met in a specially-called meeting to discuss finances, and voted to suspend Guy Santucci with pay, indefinitely.

In the meantime, three Cedar Ridge campus principals will serve as the district's interim co-superintendents.

School officials won't yet comment on the matter, but K8 News will have more information on this story as it becomes available.

As K8 News has previously reported, Cedar Ridge is considering a plan to implement a 4-day school week in order to save money.
