JONESBORO,AR -- Highland Drive Baptist Church is growing.  After many years of striving towards the goal of building an activities center that goal has finally been accomplished.

“We started back in the seventies when it was Fisher Street, looking for what we described as a family life center,” said Troy Sheets.

And now that goal is accomplished.  The congregation moved into their current location sixteen years ago, and they had outgrown the location long ago.

“It was extremely important to us to get in this facility in order to obviously do the Lord's work,” said Earl Wilson.

In addition to a full size gym, the activities center has several new classrooms and a youth center.  The youth center has a stage, a classroom with couches, and a game room

“The game room is kind of the hot topic… a lot of students come up here and they just hang out and play games,” said Highland Drive Baptist Church Youth Director, Jason Mears.

And the youth of the congregation appreciate the new facility as well, “I think it's a great opportunity for students of all ages to get involved more,” said Matt Wofford.

With the added room Mears hopes he hopes more teens will take part in activities at the church, “This space now provides us plenty of room to grow for the future.  We can seat about one hundred students in here comfortably which is about three times the size of our old space.”

This new facility means the most to those who have been with the congregation the longest.

“It means the world to me.  We feel like its something that God promised us in years past now then he has fulfilled that promise,” said Sheets.
