JONESBORO, AR - Senators Blanche Lincoln and Mark Pryor joined First District Congressman Marion Berry today in formally announcing the awarding of two federal grants for the Jonesboro Fire Department.

The money is part of the Department of Homeland Security's Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.  Both grants are expected help the department enhance current operations and improve firefighter safety.

The first award, for $37,211 is a one-year grant to help the JFD improve firefighting operations, strengthen firefighter health and safety programs, and establish or expand fire prevention programs.  The second award for $10,511 is intended to help high-risk target groups mitigate the incidences of death and injuries.
