Mother Charged in Death of Son After She Reported Him Kidnapped

January 28, 2006 - Posted at 2:33 p.m. CST

ALMA, Ga. (AP) _ A three-year-old Georgia boy reported missing

by his mother has been found dead and police say she has admitted

killing him.

After a two-day search, police found Ahmad King's body Thursday

on a tree farm about 15 miles from his home. They say his adoptive

mother has confessed to his murder. Investigators say 34-year-old

Mary Jane King concocted a story about the boy being kidnapped at a

Wal-Mart to cover up the killing. She had adopted the child just

last year.

Neighbors are stunned by the news, saying King was a dedicated

foster mother and that she was always really gentle.

There'll be an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
