High Speed Chase Ends in Drug Bust

January 31, 2006--Posted at 11:00 pm

TRUMANN-- A high speed chase ends in a drug bust...

It took the work of two police forces to pursue the vehicle on the run...

What your looking at is not just the scene of an accident...

"We have a meth lab. It's one of the biggest ones I've ever seen," Chief Larry Blagg of the Trumann Police Department says.

And the contents are not just stored in the back of this Cheverlot, they're actually at work...

"As we speak, it's over there bubbling," Cheif Blagg says.

The pursuit of this vehicle started in Craighead County. An Arkansas state trooper chased the vehicle at speeds of 100 mph.

The pursuit continued along 463 South to Tulot road in Trumann.

"The vehicle crashed---ended up in a foot persuit of the vehicle driver which was a female," Chief Blagg says.

Not only did police find a large amount of drugs, they're also investigating the contents of the working lab.

"There was some liquid spilling out of the back container of the vehicle. We don't know if it was acidic or not, but it was some kind of chemical agent coming out of there. DTF is on the scene processing it. And they have to do that with something this dangerous," Chief Blagg says.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested, but according to police, the end to this high-speed chase could've been much worse...

"The items found today in the meth lab, just by themselves are actually very combustable, very flammable... Much too dangerous to be inhaling without a mask on. You put that along with the vehicle and the gas. If there was a wreck, you'd have an explosion that would be hard to contain." Blagg says.

Police say they cannot release the name of the woman arrested at this time, but they expect to release more information in this case tomorrow.
