LYON, France (AP) _ The al-Qaida terrorist convicted in the

bombing of the U-S-S Cole has escaped from a Yemen prison.

Interpol has issued an ``urgent global security alert'' for

Jamal Ahmed Badawi, who was among several al-Qaida

escapees. They're being described as ``a clear and present danger

to all countries.''

A Yemen security official announced the escape Friday, but

provided few details. In a statement today, the international

police agency said at least 13 of the 23 escapees were convicted

al-Qaida terrorists.

The Cole bombing killed 17 people in 2000.
